Sofia is 14 years old. She lives in the small town of Vladimirets, Rivne region. She was diagnosed with heart disease and circulatory disorders when she was three years old. And then for many years doctors postponed the operation. This year Sofia is 14 years old, and she has no more strength than the old woman. The girl was exhausted by constant shortness of breath, edema, weakness, fainting. Only urgent heart surgery will return Sofia to a normal life. Kiev cardiac surgeons are ready to perform it without opening the chest: close the hole in the heart with a special implant - an occluder. But the occluder is expensive, a family with three children and a modest income does not have such money.
At the age of three, Sofia caught a bad cold. This was not the first case of SARS in the girl’s life, and the pediatrician sent Sofia for examination to the medical center in Rivne.
"I couldn’t believe what I found out!" It turned out that her daughter had a congenital heart defect, an atrial septal defect. I cried all my eyes then. But then she came to her senses - tears of grief will not help - and we began to treat her daughter - recalls her mother, Svetlana.
The cardiologist recommended that the girl be brought for examination every six months and prescribed her medication. Sofia then decided not to operate: she had a smaller defect, the doctor hoped that the hole in the heart would close by itself, it happens.

- When my daughter began to grow intensively, the size of the hole in her heart increased with her. Sofia has become pale, she complains of chest pain, - Svetlana shares her experiences. "My daughter says her heart aches." Girlfriends go to different sports clubs, she also wants, but can not.
Due to her weakness, the girl often becomes ill in class, and teachers let her go home.

Doctors are ready to close the defect in a gentle way, without opening the chest, with a special implant - an occluder. The operation itself will be done at the expense of the state budget, and an expensive occluder must be paid for. But the girl’s parents do not have such an opportunity. The family has three children, only Sofia’s father and mother are on maternity leave.
