Fundraising for the treatment of Denis Herman is closed. According to the head of the department of endovascular treatment of congenital and acquired heart defects of the National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery named after NM Amosov Igor Ditkovsky,during preoperative examination of the heart, it was found that the gradient at the site of narrowing of the pulmonary artery is significantly reduced, the shunt in the muscular part of the interventricular septum is minimal, and the defect is in the self-closing stage. Such readings do not require the removal of the defect by stenting or occluder. Fortunately, the child only needs periodic examinations to assess health.
Friends! If there are no objections, the funds raised will be transferred to the treatment of other wards of Ufond, as part of the program "Ufond.Serdtse" Two-year-

Denis was born with a complex congenital heart disease - a multiple defect of the interventricular septum. Unfortunately, it is impossible to surgically close all the defects at the same time, therefore, narrow the pulmonary artery in order to protect the vessels of the lungs and prevent irreversible changes. In addition, the narrowing of the pulmonary artery contributes to the spontaneous closure of part of the defects of the interventricular septum.
Denis had his first operation in three months. Pulmonary artery narrowing was performed. Thank God, it was possible to narrow the pulmonary artery so that the band, in the future, can be removed endovascularly - through the vessels of the thigh. Thus, when Herman was one year old, the endovascular surgeons of the Amosov Institute removed the bandage and closed the largest opening of the interventricular septal defect with an occluder. Then, Denis managed to avoid re-operation - with great risk, cardiac and pulmonary arrest.
Denis grew up on schedule and didn’t even get sick. Behaved perfectly. He slept a lot and ate willingly. Every day I went for walks, rode down the hill and on a swing. Denis’s parents calmed down for a while.
It’s time for another examination. Until the last minute, the parents hoped that during this time all the holes in the son’s heart were tightened. But, the survey did not bring good news.
- There is nothing I can do to please you, - said the cardiologist of the Amosov Institute, looking at the ultrasound picture, - the defect remained.
At the site of the band, after the narrowing of the pulmonary artery, a scar remained, which now leads to a significant narrowing of the pulmonary artery and complicates the work of the right ventricle. In addition, Denis has another muscular defect of the interventricular septum, technically very inconvenient for the cardiac surgeon, as it is covered by the structures of the right ventricle.
Denis will be operated on in a gentle way, without opening the chest: the defect will be closed with the help of a special occlusal implant, and the pulmonary artery plastic surgery will be closed with the help of a special stent implant. The cost of endovascular equipment is very high, and, unfortunately, is not available for ordinary Ukrainian families, where only one father works.
You and I can help Denis. And then the boy’s heart will be healthy, and nothing will threaten him, he will be able to boldly strive to realize any of his dreams.
