I am the mother of a wonderful and long-awaited son Bogdan. Bogdan was born prematurely, at 35 weeks of pregnancy. We have never had heart problems, we always did examinations in time according to age. More recently, I have noticed that the child has become more tired, complaining of rapid heartbeat and tingling in the heart after physical education classes.
During the ultrasound, Bohdan was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect. We were sent for a consultation to the Kyiv Heart Institute, where my son was diagnosed with an atrial septal defect. The size of the hole between the right and left atria is 6 mm. The presence of such a defect is the cause of abnormal blood flow from the left atrium to the right and, as a consequence, overflow of the small circle of blood circulation (lungs) with excess blood.
If you do not eliminate the defect now, then in the future the child may have serious heart problems. Therefore, cardiologists have recommended surgical treatment. The operation can be done endovascularly, which is safest for the child. But it requires an expensive device - an occluder. It so happened that I am raising a child alone, without a father. The Kyiv Heart Institute successfully operated on Bohdan Shapoval.The atrial septal defect was closed endovascularly with the help of a special device - an occluder. Forty minutes after the operation, Bogdan was in the ward with his mother. The work of the heart and circulatory system is restored. The boy is feeling well, and already at home with his mother!
