On June 6, the Ukrainian Relief Fund will organize an evening of charitable poetry, the book of 2015 - "Life of Mary" by Sergei Zhadan. This event is timed to the Children’s Day.
Every year on June 1, the International Children’s Day is celebrated all over the world. Back in the 1950s, the UN General Assembly recommended that all countries celebrate World Children’s Day, which aims to ensure the well-being of children around the world.
It is well known that children are the most vulnerable part of society, acutely aware of the consequences of various problems: martial law, orphanhood, homelessness, serious illness. That is why the Ukrainian Relief Fund, from year to year, carries out its activities in the direction of helping seriously ill children. Raising funds throughout Ukraine, we give the right to a new life!
The Ukrainian Relief Fund is a non-profit charitable organization, the main activity of which is to provide financial assistance for the treatment of seriously ill children under 9 comprehensive programs. In 2014 - winner of the national award "Charitable Ukraine". For 5 years of work the Foundation paid for the treatment of more than 500 children in the amount of UAH 20,475,387.
An evening of charity readings will take place on June 6 at the New Drama Theater in Pechersk (5 Nemirovicha-Danchenko Street) at 7 pm.
In support of seriously ill children, the Fund organizes an evening of charity readings. During the evening we will read a collection of poems by Sergei Zhadan "Life of Mary", the book became one of the main publications of Ukraine in 2015.
About the book:
"Life of Mary" - a new book of poems and translations by Sergei Zhadan. It contains 80 texts, 60 poems by the author and 20 translations of poems by Czeslaw Milosz. The poems have been written and translated mostly over the last year. According to Sergei Zhadan, this book is about love and hate: “It is special because it was written as a diary - in a relatively short time. It is especially distinguished by a contrasting combination of internal and external, light and dark.
As the editor of the book Alexander Boychenko notes: “The easiest thing to do during the war is to hate others. The most difficult thing is to reach mutual understanding. Even with their own. And to explain, you need to talk. With anyone, anything and anything. The main thing is not to lose humanity, that is, love and attention. In the collection of poems "Life of Mary" Sergei Zhadan speaks - about the most expensive letters and burned bridges, lost places and destroyed cities. He speaks in rhyming verses and verlibras, his own and translated words. He talks to his own and others, to the saints and not so much, to the killed military and living refugees, Rilke, Milos and, of course, to us. To save - if not us, then at least our children. "
The book is illustrated with photographs taken by Sergei Zhadan and Kharkov designer Ilya Pavlov.
Everyone who comes to this event will be able to read poems by Sergei Zhadan.
The purpose of the event is to raise funds for the treatment of Georgy Ostafy with cerebral palsy, who needs a course of treatment. More detailed information on the link http://ufond.ua/letter/1/3358
