According to the head of the department of endovascular treatment of congenital and acquired heart defects of the National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery named after NM Amosov Igor Ditkovsky, during the preoperative examination, David was found to have multiple atrial septal defects. Such indications require the removal of the defect only by surgery (band surgery), without the use of an occluder.
If there are no objections, the funds raised for David Gavasheli will be transferred to the treatment of another Ufond ward, Bohdan Witt-Koruk , as part of the Ufond.Heart program and the "Heart Beats Thanks to Each of Us" campaign .
Congenital heart disease - a defect of the interventricular septum, was discovered in David at birth. We fought hard, were treated, gave medicines, were registered. We hoped that everything would "close" itself, and no operation would be required. There was a clear improvement. Our boy became cheerful and cheerful. But our hopes were dashed. In 2018, the child was diagnosed with celiac disease - gluten intolerance. It turned out that before that, David was practically starving, because he continued to eat gluten-containing foods, and they were poison to him. As a result, the situation with heart disease has deteriorated catastrophically. Our boy became passive, sad, could not even walk by the handle. He lost a lot of weight and the situation began to get worse every day. Just began to wither. On the advice of our doctor, who has been watching David since birth, it is necessary to make an operation as soon as possible to stop life-threatening processes, and the child began to develop normally. Operate the son, sparingly, without opening the chest: close the defect with a special implant - an occluder. But we need to buy it ourselves. For a family with one dad, this is a daunting task.
