According to doctor Sasha, chief specialist of the Department of Pediatric Orthopedics of the Institute of Spine and Joint Pathology. prof. E. Sytenko of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Pashenko Andriy Vitaliyovych, preoperative examinations and tests showed that the condition of Sasha’s spine has deteriorated, the angle of curvature has increased, by almost 30 degrees. Due to the underlying diagnosis (imperfect osteogenesis), the risks of surgical intervention to correct scoliosis are unreasonably high. It is not possible to securely fasten the structure to Sasha’s spine. There is a high probability that the screws will fly out of the girl’s bone tissue and will not hold, which is very dangerous. The doctor fears for the successful outcome of the operation and Sasha’s life. At the moment, we are waiting for an official conclusion signed and sealed by the attending physician on the situation with Sasha.

Sasha Oliynyk and his grandparents are immigrants from the Donetsk region and live in the Dnieper. The girl has "imperfect osteogenesis" - congenital bone fragility, she was diagnosed in the hospital. The fractures that have already occurred in Sasha would be enough for several lives. After many years of treatment and several surgeries, Sasha was able to walk. But against the background of a rare genetic disease, the girl developed severe scoliosis of the 4th degree, grew a hump. The deformation is very strong, it can be corrected only by surgery in two stages and one metal structure, which is very expensive.
In four months Alexandra will be 17 years old. But she looks like a seven-year-old child in a wheelchair.
- Sasha’s age is betrayed by her eyes and hair, - sighs her grandmother Galina Vitalievna. - The child’s body, and the expression of the eyes is as if she is 100 years old. And hair - beautiful long hair. More than forty fractures, three operations under anesthesia, months under drips or in plaster - not every adult can stand. And the granddaughter lives so 16 years. Just very tired ...
Sasha was born with a rare, hereditary disease. Doctors immediately diagnosed "imperfect osteogenesis": "All the bones in a child are as fragile as glass, it is a genetic disease. It is not curable. " Fractures in children occurred very often. Treatment by local doctors did not help. Sasha’s thighs broke most often. For almost nine years, the girl did not stand or walk.
- Children like Sasha are called "crystal" or "fragile", - says Halyna Vitaliyivna. - But this is only by diagnosis. She is a very strong girl. Having lived a little in this world, she managed to experience a lot. Not coping with the difficulties, her mother left her. Military action near the house, a trip into the unknown under fire. New school, someone else’s apartment, lack of money. Ineffective treatment for a long time. But Sashenka endured it all with dignity.
The last hope for the girl was the Kharkiv Institute of Spine and Joint Pathology. prof. E. Sitenka, where Sasha was treated and underwent several complex operations.
- It was after the operations in Kharkiv that a miracle happened, - remembers Halyna Vitaliyivna. - The granddaughter suddenly got up from the chair and shouted: "I’m standing!". I cried with joy. Nine years of sitting in a wheelchair behind, now Sashenka will learn to walk again and explore the world from another angle. But another fracture thwarted all plans.
In 2015, Sasha had another fracture, after which she recovered for a long time, and during this time, her spine was severely deformed. At that time, due to the weakness of the bones, the doctor decided that it was dangerous to operate on the child - the bones could not cope with the load. They tried to correct the distortion by wearing a tight corset, but to no avail. The deformity has progressed very strongly, as a result it is possible to correct curvature of a backbone only by surgery. - It will be two operations, almost in a row, - sighing, says Galina Vitalievna. - Only for one construction, we need to collect more than 100 thousand hryvnias. And you need medication for two surgeries and after surgery. We try to collect as much as we can. One grandfather works, I managed to earn a pension for years of service. We live in a strange city in a rented apartment. And time is running out ...
Even now Sasha finds it difficult to walk and breathe. But, despite this, the girl is very active, loves communication, travel, dancing. He reads many books and writes his own stories. He manages to study excellently, already having dozens of diplomas and awards with honors.
- Sashenka is a very bright person, - says Halyna Vitaliyivna. - Only here the illness has taken away in it almost everything: mother, the carefree childhood, the house, friends, children’s camps, training at school, mountain campaigns, - Galina Vitalievna sighs. - There are only grandparents and dreams. The dream of standing on your feet, the dream of moving forward, and the dream of being healthy! And I understand that Sasha needs help, and that there will be caring people who will help make her dreams come true.
