As in every family, we were looking forward to the birth of a baby. One January day, our daughter, whom we named Ivanka, was born. The activity and liveliness of the child pleased our family. A dark-skinned girl with brown eyes, before the age of one, began to say the first words: "Mom, Grandma, Dad ...". We were so happy with the appearance of the first teeth, the first steps and the first braids with bows. But, once in our family, instead of joy, grief knocked on the door. And this grief was diagnosed by doctors. Ivanka was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect - an atrial septal defect.
At one point, life seemed to stop for us. We were stunned: tears and despair did not leave us for several days. But life required immediate action, and we began to seek help from medical institutions in Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Mukachevo. In Kyiv, we were examined at the Amosov Institute. Specialists of the institute suggested that the child undergo endovascular, gentle heart surgery with the help of a special implant - an occluder. For a young rural family, this device is expensive.

Ivanna Broys successfully operated at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery named after MM Amosova (Kyiv). The atrial septal defect is successfully closed in a gentle way, using an occluder. The operation lasted about an hour and was successful. The work of the heart was restored, the risk of dangerous complications was prevented. Now the girl is feeling well, the postoperative period passed without complications, the day after the operation Ivanna was discharged home.
