Julia was born a healthy child. However, at the age of 8, we noticed that her daughter’s heart often started to hurt during activity, so we decided to consult cardiologist Khrystyna Kurchak. After a complete examination, the doctor diagnosed Julia with a congenital heart defect, an open ductus arteriosus. We were advised to turn to the St. Nicholas Children’s Hospital of the First Medical Association of the city of Lviv to perform an operative intervention, as there is a threat to the child’s life in the future. The operation will be performed free of charge, but the necessary occluder-spiral implant must be purchased independently. My husband is currently without official employment, I also work, but our earnings are not able to cover the cost of the necessary device.

Cardiovascular surgeon-surgeon of the First Territorial Medical Association of the city of Lviv Dmytro Besh: «During the examination, Yulia was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect - an open ductus arteriosus. According to absolute indicators, endovascular closure of the hole with a large spiral occluder is recommended. This is a gentle intervention, after which the child will quickly recover and will develop normally and engage in favorite activities».

Yuliya Berbets was successfully operated on at the First Territorial Medical Association of the city of Lviv. The open arterial duct was closed endovascularly, with the help of a special device - a spiral occluder. The operation lasted more than an hour, after which Julia was with her mother in the ward. The work of the heart and blood circulation has been restored. The girl feels well and has already been discharged home.
