At the age of four months, Katya was sent to the city polyclinic in Kirovograd for an examination by a cardiologist, the doctor found a noise in her daughter’s heart, and with the help of ultrasound diagnosed congenital heart disease, atrial septal defect. For a full examination, we went to the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery, where we confirmed the diagnosis and advised not to hurry, as this defect may close itself.
But in 2014, it was found that the defect did not close, the hole in the atrial septum began to increase. We were advised to have open heart surgery, but we decided to wait. And in the spring of 2015, surgeons from the Amosov Institute advised a more gentle method of closing the defect - endovascularly, using a special "patch" - the occluder. We are ready, but it is an expensive design. I am raising my daughter myself, my salary as an accountant is only enough for us to live on, I can’t buy an occluder on my own. Help!
