Lera Pereverzeva lives with her mother and younger sister in Dnipro. The girl has severe scoliosis: a hump has formed on the right back, a depression on the left, and the chest organs are compressed. Larry found it difficult to breathe, her heart began to ache. Due to constant pain, the girl could not walk with friends, and was forced to transfer to partial home schooling. Lera never talks about her hump, about the fact that her right shoulder is lower than her left, about the fact that she can’t reach her feet with her hands. He approaches the mirror, looks at himself in silence and leaves as if thinking why she was so unlucky, finds no answer, and leaves.
- Lera was born a healthy child. By the age of eight, the daughter grew up in a full-fledged family, she had a happy childhood, - says Yana, the girl’s mother. - But in 2015, I developed with my husband, and since then, he does not take part in the lives of children at all, and I raise two daughters alone - Lera 13 years old and Eve 5 years old.
The girl developed by age: she sat down in time, got up and started walking early. After all the medical examinations in front of the kindergarten and school, Larry’s hospital gave a certificate that the child was healthy. And only when the girl was 11 years old, during an examination at the local clinic, the doctor noticed a slight curvature of her spine.
- I never noticed anything like that, and I could not even think that it could be. After all, my daughter grew up active, she went to the pool at the age of five, and there were never any physical deviations, - Yana recalls.
So, at the age of 11, in Lera’s medical certificate, there was an entry - scoliosis of the 3rd degree. The girl was prescribed massage, physiotherapy, swimming pool and wearing a Sheno corset, which Yana ordered in Kharkiv. Lera wore it constantly. But as it turned out, he did not help her. Lera’s back twisted more noticeably, a bump appeared on one side.
In 2019, Lera’s condition worsened, the girl began to experience severe pain in the back, legs, shortness of breath, heart failure.
- In July 2019, we applied to the Dnipropetrovsk Specialized Clinical Medical Center for Mothers and Children named after M.F. Rudneva. Doctors said that the curvature was progressing rapidly and had already reached the fourth degree, the combined form, only surgery could help.
- I see my daughter suffering. What pain he feels. My heart is torn with grief. After all, Lera is deprived of the opportunity to live a full, active life and be as happy as her peers. Due to her illness, she cannot ride a bicycle or walk with friends, play sports or sit at school for long.

Lera Pereverzeva successfully operated at the University Clinic of the Kharkiv National Institute of Spine and Joint Pathology named after Professor MI Small.
Thanks to the early detection of spinal deformities and timely surgery, which almost completely corrected scoliosis, the girl was able to avoid the progression of the disease, which leads to dysfunction of the spinal cord, lungs and heart.
On Monday, Lera will be discharged home. In a couple of weeks, after rehabilitation, the girl will be able to go to school. Constant pain and anguish behind. Lera will start a new life, without back pain and with hope for the future. He will study and enter the institute.
