Maria Husar
We have two children in our family. Completely different, but with the same abnormalities in the work of all organs. Maria is our youngest and very desired girl. The pregnancy was very difficult, mostly being on preservation. Our daughter was born a healthy and beautiful girl. At first, the doctors did not even notice the bump on the child’s back, and then they noticed that it was muscle strain, it was necessary to do a massage that would fix everything. And we did it. At four months, we noticed that the “folds” on our daughter’s legs were different, so we decided to contact a pediatric orthopedist, who said that with age everything changes. We continued to do massages. At one year, Maria started walking, but it was like walking a paralyzed child – our daughter almost did not move her back. The doctors continued to prescribe massages and exercise therapy to us. Nothing changed in two years, the child's condition only worsened, and later we saw that the child's scoliosis began to progress. The traumatologist prescribed Maria to wear a corset around the clock. For the first time, my daughter wore a corset at the age of three. Since then, other problems with the child's health began. At first, the connection of tissues was disrupted - they prescribed medication. Then, they discovered a prolapse in the heart of both valves. Maria was on antibiotic therapy for a whole year to support the heart. Over time, vision problems began, and our daughter was diagnosed with degenerative myopia with astigmatism in both eyes, and due to scoliosis, both legs began to deform. For over 6 years, our daughter has required constant treatment, expensive medications, training, examination, wearing a corset, taking tests, regular visits to doctors and restrictions in the child's usual life. Constant treatment of both children has become our life. But, the hardest part is ahead of us. First, Maria is advised to undergo surgery to correct the spinal deformity, and then a heart operation. Surgeons will perform the surgical intervention to correct the scoliotic spinal deformity using a metal implant. Doctors promised Maria that the operation would be gentle, it would be performed using a new technology that would preserve the flexibility of the spine. Then, a difficult rehabilitation is required, and only then, a heart operation. However, we are all ready for these tests. Maria is ready! After all, her daughter dreams of only one thing - to be a healthy child, to breathe freely and communicate freely with her peers. Therefore, we ask all caring and kind people to help Maria be healthy and fulfill her dream! Svitlana Husar, Poltava region. Head of the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology of the Rudnev Mother and Child Center Dmitry Petrenko (Dnipro): "The girl came with a severe progressive spinal deformity. Due to the rapid development of scoliosis with a curvature of 64 degrees and back pain, the child cannot breathe normally and sit in one place for a long time. An operation is required to correct the curvature using a structure that will be installed in the spine and correct the curvature. In a few days, the child will start to stand up, and in a month she will be able to go to school". The supplier of the metal structure-implant issued an invoice for 180 000 UAH.
