Oleg is our eldest child. Our son was born a healthy boy. There were no significant health problems in his childhood, Oleg grew and developed like all children.
When our son turned 13, under unclear circumstances, he had an ischemic stroke, resulting in hemiparesis on the right and tetraparesis on the left.
For a whole year, we underwent examinations, treatment courses, and rehabilitation after the stroke. The child's condition improved, but we still did not understand why the 13-year-old child had a stroke.
This year, Oleg was scheduled to undergo a full heart examination. After an ultrasound and echocardiogram, the child was diagnosed with heart problems. As it turned out after the consultation, Oleg had a congenital open oval window, and contrast was recorded in the left atrium. The doctors said that the child needed surgery to close the hole. After this operation, my son’s heart will start working properly and there will be no more strokes. This operation can be performed using modern equipment for endovascular (sparing) surgery – an occluder implant. The operation itself will be done free of charge, but we need to purchase this device ourselves. The cost of the occluder is too high for our family, where two children are being raised, one of whom is disabled. We will have to collect funds for a very long time on our own to buy the necessary device. Therefore, we appeal to everyone who has the opportunity to help Oleg – even a small contribution is a step towards his healthy heart. We sincerely thank everyone for your help! Cardiovascular surgeon of the First Territorial Medical Association of Lviv Besh Dmytro: "During the examination, the boy was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect - an open oval window. Based on absolute indicators, endovascular closure of the opening with an occluder was recommended. This is a gentle intervention, after which the child will quickly recover and will develop normally without complications in the functioning of the heart".
