Margarita Bondar will be saved by heart surgery.

Margarita is a long-awaited child in the Cooper family. The girl lives with parents in the small town of Pervomaisk of the Nikolaev area. Heart disease - she was discovered a month after birth. Initially, Margarita was diagnosed with three defects and told to observe. Fortunately, two of them closed, leaving one - a defect of the interventricular septum in the membrane. For more than two years, the parents lived in the hope that the third hole would close on its own, as promised by the doctors. But this spring the girl’s condition deteriorated sharply: she turned blue, shortness of breath appeared. Margarita was brought to Kyiv for an examination, which showed that the defect had not closed, her heart was working with an overload. Cardiac surgeons announced that the only way out was surgery.

Margarita will be three years old in September. Her favorite three magic words: "mom", "dad" and "give". This set is enough to make the world revolve around her. But if all of a sudden it doesn’t work, then Margarita has a secret weapon in store that no one can resist - hug her tightly and kiss her on the cheek. The weapon works flawlessly. Especially for grandparents, who shower her with toys and chocolates. And also for mom, who on the first demand includes baby cartoons, and dad, who rides on his shoulders and plays outside.

Relatives try to do everything to keep the girl from crying. Because when Margarita cries, her lips turn blue, she starts wheezing and choking.
The hole in the baby’s heart is to blame for everything - a defect of the interventricular septum, which was formed between the right and left ventricles of the heart. It is present in all children while they are in the womb. After the newborn’s first breath, the lungs open and fill with air like an airbag. At this point, the entire circulatory system changes, and parts of the heart such as the ductus arteriosus - normally - heal within 15-20 hours. And holes in the atrial or interventricular septum, during the first two years of life of the child. But at Margarita’s, one of them never closed.

This was reported to Anastasia, the girl’s mother, a month after the birth, when Margarita had an ultrasound of her heart.

"It usually happens to premature babies," said the pediatrician. - And your girl was born on time and with good results: Most likely, the holes will close themselves within a year. And then let’s see, - recalls Anastasia.

Margosha, as her parents like to call her daughter, behaved perfectly. She slept a lot and ate willingly. The girl grew up as scheduled and did not even get sick. Anastasia calmed down for a while.

In a year and two months, Margosha finally got out of her four-wheeled "machine" that helped her move, and took the first, uncertain steps.
Her parents went for walks with her every day, rode down the hill, on a swing. But after a while, Margarita began to cry often.
On another walk, Anastasia looked at her weeping daughter and gasped - a pale blue shadow appeared between her nose and upper lip. This happens with cores.

The queues for ultrasound had to wait a long time. Until the last minute, the parents hoped that during this time the holes in the daughter’s heart were tightened.

"I can’t please you with anything," said the cardiologist at the children’s clinic, looking at the ultrasound picture. "One of the defects didn’t close."
The doctor gave a referral to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery named after NM Amosov, and the girl was hospitalized in the cardiac surgery department for examination.

- One of the defects remains and increases, - said Anastasia, a pediatric cardiologist, - the lungs receive more blood and the pressure in them increases, disrupting the entire circulatory and respiratory systems. There is no chance of closing the hole yourself. The girl needs surgery.

Margarita is operated on in a gentle way, without opening the chest: close the defect with a special occlusal implant. But the girl’s parents need to buy an occluder with their own money. For a family with one dad, this is a daunting task. You and I can help the girl!

Head of the Department of Endovascular Treatment of Congenital and Acquired Heart Diseases of the National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery named after NM Amosova Igor Ditkovsky (Kyiv):“Margarita was diagnosed with a ventricular septal defect. With this defect, the blood inside the heart mixes, the lungs receive more blood and the pressure in them increases. In addition, this defect is a risk factor for infectious endocarditis. The best option for the treatment of this defect is to close the defect with an occluder. ”

The occluder supplier issued an invoice for UAH 101,874.
