Yaroslav’s illness is a fatal coincidence. During childbirth, the boy’s heart began to stop, it was too late to perform a cesarean section, doctors had to apply a vacuum. The consequences were irreparable - cerebral palsy, spastic tetraparesis. For Yaroslav’s mother, a new stage of life has come, a difficult and long way of her son’s rehabilitation. Now the main task is to put him on his feet and teach him to walk on his own.
And it all started so well ... Wedding, beloved husband and such a long-awaited pregnancy, long-awaited son!In short, ordinary life - suddenly it has a completely different content. Bitter, unfair. Necessity, purpose. Protect, leave the child. Find a way, a solution, money, doctors. It is necessary to try, try, search, despair and still continue ... Everything is like in the life of Yaroslav’s family.
- The pregnancy was complicated, I was hospitalized several times. During childbirth, everything went well, and suddenly I lost the contractions, and the baby’s heart rate began to decrease, doctors began to save his life, using a vacuum extractor. Several hours of struggle for life. Thank God, it all worked out. That’s right, I thought then. This was probably the longest hour of my life, - says Olga, Yaroslav’s mother.
A few days later, Yaroslav and his mother were discharged home, diagnosing the boy with minor neurology. The parents immediately enrolled the child in courses of rehabilitation, massage and exercise therapy.
- For some time everything went great, my son was developing well, there were no developmental abnormalities or health problems, - recalls Olga.
At the age of 8 months, Yaroslav underwent a routine polio vaccination. This is a standard vaccine that is given to all newborns, so the boy’s parents did not worry about anything. But something went wrong. A few days later, Yaroslav became weak, sedentary and cried constantly. The district doctor assured that this was a normal reaction to the vaccination, it would pass.
- Closer to the year, I noticed that Yaroslav stopped developing. We went for an examination to the regional hospital, where my son was suspected of having lower spastic paraparesis. We were prescribed treatment, - Olga recalls.
Constant rehabilitation courses did not help Yaroslav, his condition only got worse every day, and in 2012, the boy was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, spastic tetraparesis.
- Then, I thought that was all, I don’t even want to remember this time. I did not believe to the last that Yaroslav had cerebral palsy. In addition, the father of the son, when he was one and a half years old, left and left the two of us. But, I did not give up and continue to do everything to make my son.
Now Yaroslav walks with support, learns to count and compose words. He is a very cheerful, cheerful boy who constantly likes to learn something new. Twice a week he goes to the pool with his mother, learns to dive and swim, we work with a speech therapist. Doctors say he is a very active and promising boy, but in order to develop further, he needs medical treatment and constant rehabilitation courses at the International Clinic of Rehabilitation Vladimir Kozyavkin. Treatment requires large funds. Olga raises her son alone. She is divorced from her husband, they do not receive any help from him, they live on the same disability pension.
- I do not lose hope that the time will come when my son will start walking on their own. I believe that there are those who will help us, who will help my son…

Yaroslav Kuharuk underwent another course of therapy at the International Rehabilitation Clinic (Truskavets). Yaroslav became physically stronger, learned to stand more confidently, became more attentive and most importantly, he began to speak expressively.
