Our ward Kristina Kalytyuk is 15 years old. The girl is rapidly losing her hearing. She needs an expensive hearing aid, which costs 61 thousand hryvnias. In medical parlance, this is called bilateral chronic cochleitis, bilateral sensorineural hearing loss. Doctors say that the hearing goes away forever. They don’t know why the girl stops hearing. Ufund program coordinator Svetlana Hisamova and popular singer Svetlana Tarabarova talk about Kristina Kalityuk.
- The girl’s mother believes that psychological trauma is to blame for everything: Christina’s father has left the family. He does not see his daughter and does not help. Christina endured this drama very hard. That’s why Christina’s mother thinks that all the troubles are due to divorce. Why do people tend to blame themselves for children’s illnesses, to consider it a punishment?
- There is a connection in everything. I believe in karma and work every day to clear it. If you believe in healing and do good to others, then sooner or later your health will improve and success will come. Going back to Christina’s story, the children absorb everything like a sponge. I suspect that it was not the child who was very worried about the divorce, but the mother. And the daughter shared this drama. Perhaps hearing loss is a protective reaction of an organism that wants to protect itself from the outside world. And the disease has psychological causes, overcoming which Christina may be cured. She needs help with that.
"Have you ever imagined life without hearing?" As a singer, you can probably best describe it. After all, for you hearing and voice are the main tools of perception of the world, self-expression.
- I did not imagine and I’m afraid to imagine. Because music, the opportunity to listen, hear, reproduce what is born in my soul is a great reward. This is not just my work, this is the most valuable treasure. But when I am very worried about someone, I take the situation in the country to heart, I lose my voice. I read a lot of books about it and found out that my throat can hurt from the unspoken. There are examples in the history of music of musicians who do not hear. And the brightest - Beethoven. Therefore, anything is possible, and healing, as I said, is within each of us.
- Christina dreams of becoming a doctor and helping patients as sick as she is. But so far she herself needs help, and not so much medical as financial. A hearing aid is not available for this family. The girl’s mother is the only breadwinner, she has to work abroad to feed her daughter and elderly mother. There are so many people in need in our country, including Christina. How to choose who to help?
