Tadej was born with a heart defect – an atrial septal defect. Doctors then assured that this happens to many children, and that over time, the defect can heal on its own. We sincerely hoped for this and waited.
But, at almost 2 years old, a repeat ultrasound showed that the hole in Tadej’s heart had not decreased by a millimeter. We continued to believe that everything would go away without surgery. However, now that our boy is already 4 years old, the situation has only worsened.
Unfortunately, doctors say that because of this, Tadej already has an overload of the right heart sections and their enlargement. This means that it is becoming harder for the heart to work. But there is hope – if the operation is performed, the heart will be able to recover, and its sections will return to normal.
Doctors are confident: after the operation, Tadej will be completely healthy and in a month he will be able to return to his active, happy life. But if left as is, it can lead to serious changes in the heart's functioning in the future and worsen the quality of his life.
Tadej is a very active and cheerful boy. He loves football, loves to play with his sister Anna and brother Matviy, is interested in English and tenderly takes care of the seals. We dream that he can run, play and laugh without restrictions under a peaceful sky, with a strong and healthy heart. And we really hope that you will help Tadej's heart to be healthy! Cardiovascular surgeon of the First Territorial Medical Association of Lviv Besh Dmytro: "Tadej has a congenital heart defect - an atrial septal defect. The boy needs surgery. Given the planned surgical treatment, this heart defect requires endovascular closure in the near future. This is necessary to reduce the load on the child's heart, after which the boy will be completely healthy."
