Touring good things
A team of creative and young guys came up with a charity project Tour of Good Things. " Ukrainian Relief Fund, acted as the operator of the project on the website of the Ukrainian Charity Exchange.
Its essence is to produce a product every month, buying which, people can help other people. How does it work? Let’s tell by example! Our tour opened with sleep masks at Relax Park Verholy. With all the funds raised in August, we publish children’s fiction for the visually impaired. Next September and from the first day of the month, everyone has the opportunity to buy sugar-free panna cotta in Kiev at Panna Pasticceria , thus helping to raise funds for the purchase of non-invasive glucometers for Ohmatdet.
And now more about the September project: About 400 children from all over Ukraine from 0 to 18 years old with severe type 1 diabetes mellitus who receive insulin therapy are treated annually in the Department of Endocrinology of the State Medical Center "OKHMATDET". It is advisable for all children with type 1 diabetes to be monitored for glucose at least once a year. But there are categories of patients with diabetes in the Department of Endocrinology, who need to be monitored 2-4 times a year. These are young children under 5 years of age and children with extremely labile diabetes and patients with severe chronic complications of the disease. The approximate number of such children is 50-80 patients per year. Almost all children have individual glucometers, but unfortunately for the last 2 years the state does not provide free test strips for patients with diabetes, so due to the high cost of strips, in order to save, patients measure blood sugar 1-3 times a day instead of the required 5 -6 times.
This circumstance significantly affects the condition of children! With glucose monitoring, endocrinologists will be able to get a reliable picture of blood sugar during the day and night (because the device measures blood glucose every 2 minutes and real-time sugar levels can be seen on the screen), choose the appropriate dose of insulin. Glucose monitoring is performed using a special Freestyle Libre device using an individual sensor for 14 days. This time is sufficient to adequately adjust the insulin dose for each child with diabetes.
To ensure adequate examination of all patients with diabetes by the Department of Endocrinology, it is necessary to have at least 2 non-invasive Freestyle Libre glucometers and 20 sensors , which are going to buy with the help of the September campaign " Tour of good things". There are so many good things ahead of us, and so many wonderful people who need help! It is very easy to join the tour and help - follow the announcements and buy a good thing every month, or support us on the website of the Ukrainian Charity Exchange . Let’s change the world for the better and do good together!
