Veronica is our only daughter, who, unfortunately, was born with a serious genetic disease. From that moment on, the struggle began. Ours and our daughter’s. The struggle for every breath, movement and word. But, contrary to negative forecasts, Veronica passed these tests with dignity and made progress in her development.
We went to our first kindergarten, and then to a regular school with an inclusive education program. Our daughter delighted us with her successes, but… Our trials did not end there.
About 5 years ago, our daughter was diagnosed with another diagnosis - scoliosis of the 2nd degree. According to the doctor’s prescription, Veronica wore a Chenault corset and attended regular exercise classes. But unfortunately, the disease progressed. Currently, she has been diagnosed with scoliosis of the 4th degree, which can only be treated with surgery.
Due to her genetic diagnosis, Veronika speaks very poorly, so she cannot say how much it hurts. We can only imagine how difficult it is for our child. Over time, Veronika’s walking became worse and worse and she quickly got tired. She can’t even sit for a long time, now she lies down more. In addition to pain, the diagnosis greatly affects her education, development and quality of life.
Doctors at the Rudnev Mother and Child Center recommend surgical intervention to correct scoliotic deformity. For this operation, Veronika needs a metal structure - an implant. Which costs almost 200 thousand hryvnias.
We have always tried to cope with our problems on our own, did not turn to anyone for help, but now we are not able to pay for the cost of such treatment on our own. Veronika is a very strong girl, but now she needs your help. Please help! Dinara Salimova, Dnipro.
Dmytro Petrenko, Head of the Orthopedics and Traumatology Department of the Rudnev Mother and Child Center (Dnipro): «Veronika has dysplastic thoracolumbar scoliosis of the 4th degree. Recently, the girl’s condition has worsened, the spinal deformity is progressing, the pain in the chest and back has increased, and shortness of breath is increasing. Over time, cardiopulmonary failure will progress. The girl needs to undergo urgent surgical treatment using a metal implant structure. This method is the most suitable for correcting scoliosis. After a period of rehabilitation and adaptation, Veronika will be able to live a full life, forgetting about her illness».
The supplier of the metal structure-implant issued an invoice for 193 800 UAH.

Veronika Bilash was successfully operated on at the Rudnev Mother and Child Center. On March 26, the girl underwent spinal curvature correction and spinal deformity stabilization using a transpedicular metal implant, which allowed her to completely correct the spinal deformity. A few days later, Veronika was discharged home from the hospital to recover from the surgery and undergo a rehabilitation period, after which the girl will return to her normal life.
