The operation was not discussed at the time, it was hoped that, eventually, the defect and the "window" will close themselves. But, unfortunately, this did not happen. During the last examination, it was found that the atrial septal defect is not one, but two, and they will not close.
The baby is growing and, if not operated on now, it will lead to irreversible changes in the heart. Even now, the presence of the defect has a bad effect on her health, her daughter often suffers from SARS, sore throats, obstructive bronchitis, which turn into pneumonia. Doctors recommend gentle surgery with an occluder, as this is the most appropriate surgery in our case. We can’t get the Ministry of Health’s quota for the operation, and we can’t buy an expensive occluder ourselves. We have a large family, I am on maternity leave, one man provides for the family.
