Yakhnytsia Specialized General Education Boarding School

In 1921, an orphanage was opened on the estate of Mr. Tsilinsky, where orphans who lost their parents during the Civil War of 1918-1920 were brought up. Children who became orphans during the Holodomor of 1932-33 and the Great Patriotic War also studied in this orphanage. The orphans who lived in this orphanage went on to study at the secondary school in the village of Yakhnyky. As the teachers who worked in the orphanage at that time recall, the Great Patriotic War left its mark on children's characters and this had to be taken into account in their teaching.

In 2001, the name of the school was changed from Yakhnytsia Special General Education Boarding School for Mentally Retarded Children (auxiliary school) to Yakhnytsia Special General Education Boarding School for Correction of Mental Development.
In 2005, the name of the school was changed. The Yakhnytsia Special Secondary School - Boarding School for Correction of Mental Development was renamed into the Yakhnytsia Special Secondary School - Boarding School of the Lokhvytsia District of the Poltava Regional Council.
The institution has created appropriate conditions for the personal growth of each student (a situation of success and support). The main task of the school is “Formation of health-saving competence of a child with special needs, which is a condition for ensuring an increase in the level of his/her overall development and self-realization in society.”
Today, 86 students study at the school and master a certain amount of knowledge and skills. But it is important for students to be able to use their knowledge in practice, and therefore in our institution they acquire knowledge of the basics of the following professions: carpenter, painter, plasterer, shoe repairman, seamstress, florist, and agricultural worker.

Since 2020, we have provided assistance for UAH 214 000
