Yaroslava was born a healthy child. During pregnancy, I heard a lot about the fact that newborns are often found to have heart disease, and I was very worried that such a defect could be found after the birth of a daughter. They always went to the hospital with excitement for a monthly check-up. At the age of 3 months, at the next examination by a pediatrician, we were told about the noise in the heart of Yaroslava, and immediately sent for an ultrasound. All our fears, unfortunately, came true. Ultrasound revealed that her daughter had a congenital heart defect and an open ductus arteriosus. The cardiologist reassured us and prescribed treatment for my daughter. Unfortunately, the treatment did not give a positive result, the defect remained. We went to Kyiv, to the Amosov Institute, where we were told that it is necessary to apply after the child is 1 year old.
In early April 2018, we came for a second consultation in Amosov. After a complete examination, the cardiologist said that the defect remained and continues to increase. The doctor recommends closing the duct as soon as possible with an occluder implant, as the left side of the heart begins to enlarge. The implant is very expensive. Yaroslava Volkova was successfully operated on at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery named after NM Amosova. The girl was implanted with an occlusive spiral. The operation was without complications, the heart rhythm was restored, the open ductus arteriosus was eliminated. Yaroslava feels good already with her parents at home.
